Dorothy Ann Good, 72, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for several years.
Mrs. Good was born January 22, 1952, in Harrisonburg to the late John Henry and Mary Catherine Ritchie Cook.
Dorothy worked in health care as a certified nursing assistant with both Camelot Nursing Home and Bridgewater Retirement Community. She enjoyed painting birdhouses, playing bingo, and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels outside of her room window.
On January 22, 1979, she married Dennis Edward Good who preceded her in death on September 24, 1981. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Cook, Johnny Cook and Wilson Cook; two sisters, Velma Lutz and Brenda Crawford; a granddaughter, Angela Michael and a great-granddaughter, Ayria Michael.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Michael and companion, Charlie Shifflett of Grottoes; two sons, Ronnie Good of Penn Laird and Jason Good of Salem; two brothers William “Bill” Cook and Lloyd Cook and wife, Beverly; two sisters, Virginia Kyger and husband, Charles and Mildred Kimble and husband, Eugene; three grandchildren, Martina Michael, Gary Michael, and Jennifer Michael; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Michael, Matthew Young, Elaina Adkins, and Aylia Michael and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg with Pastor Harvey Yoder officiating.
There will be no formal visitation. Those wishing to pay their respects may visit Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
