Betty Jean Heiston Life, 89, of Elkton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Journeys Crossing Assisted Living, where she had resided for the past two years. Betty was born September 18, 1935, in Elkton, Va. and was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Williams Heiston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Wanda Berman and nephew, Larry Berman.
On February 15, 1955, she married Walter M. “Bill” Life, Jr., who also preceded her in death on February 12, 1984.
Betty was a graduate of Elkton High School with the class of 1953 and was a member of Elk Run Evangelical Church in Elkton. She was employed with banking branches, James Madison University, Rockingham County Public Schools, where she served in various positions, retiring from Elkton Middle School as their bookkeeper. Betty enjoyed flower gardening, taking bus trips, and shopping with friends before her health slowed her down.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Morris and husband, Matt, and Marcia Bennett and husband, Jeff all of Elkton; grandchildren, Justin Bennett and wife, Hannah of Waynesboro, and Jarrett Bennett of Elkton; sister, Barbara Meadows and her family of Elkton and Bill Berman, Lana Lewis and Nancy Lewis all of Bowie, MD.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, all services will be private.
