Today marks the end of a ten-day effort by Augusta County Young Farmers to help victims in Southwest Virginia recover after Hurricane Helene.
Based on conversations with Virginia Cooperative Extension agents, A-C-Y-F determined that one of the region’s top agricultural needs is fencing supplies, and specifically — T-posts.
Headed by Morgan Slaven and Nikita McNett, the group launched a week-long campaign beginning October 5th to raise 22 thousand dollars for ten miles worth of T- Posts and fencing supplies.
According to Slaven’s facebook page, as of yesterday, Augusta County Young Farmers had raised $11,400 dollars which is the equivalent of 7.1 miles of T-Posts and fencing supplies.

Donations can still be made until 5 this evening.

More details are available at “T-Post Drive By Augusta Young Farmers” on Facebook.
