AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A former Augusta County resident, who is currently incarcerated in southwest Virginia, has been charged in the death of an infant earlier this year.

Damian David Nesselrodt was charged by indictment from the Augusta County Grand Jury for three counts, including first-degree murder.

Earlier this year, on April 8, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Weyers Cave Fire and Rescue responded to a home in the Weyers Cave area for an unresponsive, and not breathing, infant. Fire and Rescue personnel attempted life saving measures on the infant child but were unsuccessful.

Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder reports that after a very lengthy investigation, the child’s death was ruled “Homicide” by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Nesselrodt, 31, is currently in custody and indictments were served by Wise County Sheriff’s Office.
