ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – In light of the recent threats in local schools and around the country, Rockingham County School officials are assuring everyone that they are working diligently to protect all students and employees.

One of the ways is through a new app that they hope to unveil next month called ‘LifeSpot.’ The school division’s new Director of School Safety and Security, Caleb Bailey, said the school board agreed to purchase this active shooter app.

“It improves the notification to law enforcement from the app, and it cannot be accidentally activated,” Bailey explained. “It has to be intentional and it’s going to help improve our response times for our personnel to be notified of an active shooter event in Rockingham County Public Schools.”

Bailey added that staff training for this app will begin next month.
