Robert Lee “Bob” Stover, 80, of McGaheysville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at VMRC’s Brunk House at Woodland Park in Harrisonburg.

 

He was born on August 6, 1944, in Portsmouth, Virginia and was the son of the late Frank and Margaret Mildred Sours Stover. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Sours.

 

Bob was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School. He was employed with James Madison University for 35 years as an HVAC supervisor until his retirement in 2004. He also owned a pressure washing business for a number of years. After his retirement, Bob volunteered his time with the Department of Wildlife Resources through their Complimentary Work Force Program. Through this program, he enjoyed making new friends and continuing his work with fish and wildlife conservation.

 

On July 20, 1963, he married the former Linda Sue Carrier, who survives.

 

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Bob is survived by a son, Robert “Lee” Stover, II and wife, Joy of McGaheysville; brother, William Stover and wife, Louise of Port Republic; granddaughter, Alexandra “Lexy” Stover and numerous extended family members.

 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home, Harrisonburg with the Rev. Rudy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
