Raymond Edward Michael, 90, of Keezletown, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Bellaire at Stone Port in Harrisonburg.

 

Mr. Michael was born on May 13, 1934 in Keezletown and was a son of the late Clarence Edward and Catherine Elizabeth (Tibbins) Michael. Raymond was a longtime member of the Keezletown United Methodist Church. He was a life long farmer in Keezletown. Mr. Michael also owned and operated Michael Trucking, a United States Postal Mail Contractor. Raymond played county league baseball for the Keezletown team. He was an avid hunter, specifically hunting grouse, quail, rabbits, and deer. Raymond enjoyed visits from his friends and family. He also enjoyed watching Fox News, reading agricultural magazines, and playing cards.

 

On June 11, 1955 he married the former JoAnne Heatwole who preceded him in death.

 

Raymond is survived by his children, Cherie Rodgers and husband, Steven of Rockingham, Raymond E. “Mike” Michael, II, and wife, Terri of Keezletown, Dale Michael and Vicky of Keezletown; a brother, Maynard Michael of Keezletown; five grandchildren, Scotty Michael, Mikie Michael, Brittany Colberg, Stefanie Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers; six great-grandchildren, Daniele Michael, Owen Michael, Alexis Colberg, Emmet Michael, Callen Michael, Levi Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, Raymond was preceded in death by a son, Stacey Alan Michael; and a brother, Norman Lee Michael.

 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2 PM at the Harrisonburg Chapel of Kyger Funeral Homes with Pastor Joel Robinette officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

 

Burial will be held privately prior to the service.
