Jackie Lee Spitler, 77, of Fulks Run, VA passed away September 2, 2024, at his residence.
He was born September 17, 1946, in Mt. Clinton to the late Jacob Pascal and Dorothy “Dot” Edith Small Spitler.
Jackie graduated from Turner Ashby High School. He was a poultry farmer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 – 1967, during the Vietnam War, and received a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Jackie was a devout Christian with a contagious laugh, and a member of Mt. Grove Church of the Brethren in Fulks Run. He was a life member of Chimney Rock VFW Post 996, where he had served as Past Quarter Master. He was a life-long member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On September 19, 1982, he married the former C. Darlene Morris who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Edy Long (Emmett) of New Market, Carla Monger (Neil) of Elkton, Danny Spitler of Staunton, Cara Atkins of Fulks Run; grandchildren, Laura Waldron (Zachary), Kyle Monger (Melissa), Tyler Long (Rachel), Dillon Long (Elise), Cole Monger (Maddie), Merrick Spitler; great grandchildren, Henry, Ellnora, Walter, Hattie Belle, Hazel, and Ethel Waldron, Rebecca and Chloe Long; siblings, Betty Ellen Hancher (William), Jacob Pascal “J.P.” Spitler (Betty), Mary Etta Spitler-Segar, Denise Spitler; special friends, Yen Bautista, Dave and Jo Kyger; and special pup “Angel”.
Jackie was preceded in death by his grandson, James; and daughter- in- law, Dawn Spitler.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Bridgewater.
There will be no viewing or visitation at Grandle Funeral Home.
