HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Virginia State Police say they’ll be joining other law enforcement agencies nationally to curb crashes and fatalities on the road.
Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E) is now in effect and will continue through the year. The program aims to reduce crashes, fatalities, and injuries on the road due to impaired driving, speeding, and failing to use a seat belt.
VSP says the summer driving season began with about 25 deaths on Virginia roads during the Memorial Day holiday. They are also reminding drivers of the state’s “Move Over” law requiring drivers to move over a lane or slow down when approaching a vehicle on the shoulder with flashing lights.
