HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County Public Schools are heading back to the classroom on August 20th.
Leslie Pullen with the Harrisonburg Fire Department wants to remind early morning drivers the rules for when school buses stop.
“If there is no median, whether you’re going towards the bus or following the bus from behind, you want to stop and make sure that those kids are getting off safely. If there’s a median and you’re on the other side of the road, it’s a little different. But like I said, a lot of these buses are traveling on very well-traveled roads during the year,” Pullen said on WSVA’s Public Safety Today.
Pullen added to be aware of new, young drivers who aren’t used to driving in significant or stressful traffic conditions.
