Thomas Bragg Prichard, Jr., 71, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family and dear friends.
Tom was born August 27, 1952 in Harrisonburg, VA. He was the eldest son of the late Thomas Bragg Prichard, Sr., and Nancy (Layman) Prichard.
Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Catherine Caracofe Prichard. He is survived by his son, Chant Prichard of Linville; step-children, Fonia Cook (Benjamin) of Verona, Raymond Lilly (Stephanie) of Dayton; grandchildren, Colten Cook (Victoria), Stephen Lilly, Evan Lilly; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Cook, Jonah Cook, Asher Cook, James Hurdle. Sisters in law, Sandra Hudgins (Spurgeon), Debra Morse (Paul); half-brothers-in-law, Bill Troester, Earl (Bunny) Troester, Bobby Troester; numerous nieces and nephews.
On October 28, 2022, Tom married the former Jennifer (Jenni) Thomas, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by step-children, Jason Critzer of Fishersville, Jessica Critzer (Teddy Campbell) of Fishersville; grandchildren, Tucker Critzer, Paige Critzer; brothers, Benjamin Prichard (Lorna) of Port Republic, Arthur Prichard of Keezletown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Hawpe (Ed), Sally Miller, Edward Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School. He held an Apprenticeship Certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia for the trade of Tool and Die Maker. Tom retired from Walker Manufacturing/Tenneco after 35 years of service as a Tool and Die Maker and Design Engineer. Tom spent the last decade teaching a Machinist Certification course at Blue Ridge Community College. Tom was an avid enthusiast of cars, especially Willy’s Jeeps. He enjoyed a good craft beer and perfecting his own home brew, Linville Lager. RV traveling and camping were some favorite pastimes, along with all things outdoors. Among his favorites, trips to the beach, fishing and hunting. Tom loved all animals, but especially his two chihuahuas, Peanut and April and his Grandpup, Murphy.
There will be no formal service. Family and friends can gather to share memories and fellowship on Saturday, August 24, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Brothers Craft Brewing, 800 N. Main St.Harrisonburg, VA. 22802, a favorite watering hole of Tom’s, especially on his Grumpy Old Men Thursdays.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to The Machining and Welding Program fund at Blue Ridge Community College BRCC Educational Foundation: P.O. Box 80 Weyers Cave, VA 24486. A note should be included that the gift is being made “In Memory of Tom Prichard” or that it is designated for the “Machining and Welding Program.”
