Mary Luella Hartman Smith, 80, of Broadway, VA passed away August 1, 2024 at Brookdale of Harrisonburg Nursing Home.
She was born January 17, 1944 in Timberville to the late Glenn L. and Hadie Alice Hedrick Hartman.
Mary was an office manager in the billing department at Rockingham Radiology. She was a member of the Linville Congregational Christian Church, where she played the piano. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Dayton.
On August 9, 1975 she married Roy Lyndon Smith, who preceded her in death April 21, 2003.
Mary is survived by her son, Terry Shoemaker and wife Carla of Broadway; grandchildren, Travis Shoemaker and wife Emily of Broadway, Jessica Shoemaker of Broadway; great grandchildren, Hayley Shoemaker, Alexis Shoemaker; sisters, Delores Wilfong of Harrisonburg, Alma Shoemaker of Georgia; brother, Jacob W. “Bill” Hartman of Penn Laird; step-daughter, Cheryl Armentrout and husband David of Penn Laird; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; 6 step-great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her step-daughter, Sally Buracker, preceded her in death.
Pastor Gerald Meeks will conduct a funeral service 11:00 AM Wednesday at Linville Congregational Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Linville Cemetery. The casket will be closed.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
