ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a Rockingham County teenager earlier this week.
In a news release, Sgt. Brent Coffey said the crash occurred around 1:35 a.m. Sunday morning on Mayland Road, near Route 946.
Gadge M. Crawford,17, of Timberville, was driving a 2002 Honda Accord at high speeds when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline.
The vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment and a fence before overturning.
According to Coffey, Crawford, was ejected during the crash and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
