Mr. Chad Doyle Ray, 43. of Dayton, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center.
A son of Ruby Nyoka Joseph Ray and the late Robert Lonn Ray, he was born on November 22, 1980 in Harrisonburg.
Chad was a lifelong resident of the Rawley Springs community in Rockingham County and attended Turner Ashby High School. He loved and accepted the Lord and in his early life he grew up in the Mennonite faith but later enjoyed attending Victory Fellowship Church near Dayton.
He had been employed with Penske Truck Leasing for 23 years, where he was a District Service Manager.
Chad most enjoyed watching his children play sports, bear and deer hunting. He was an avid fan of Nascar Team Penske. Chad was an outstanding master mechanic.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kristian “Krissy” Ray, of Dayton; a daughter, Kayla Ray, and fiance’ Cory Conner, two sons, Cameron Ray and Dalton Ray, all of Dayton; four sisters, Angela Lambert, of Rockingham, Katrina Sager and husband Jeff, of Hinton, Regal Ross, of Virginia Beach and Bobbi Carper, of Keezletown; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his dogs, Kansas, Rosco, Diamond and Koe.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Conner Lee Ray and a brother, Derrick Ray.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 24, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tim McAvoy and Pastor Robert Mallow officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rawley Springs Mennonite Church Cemetery.
