HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg Fire Department is set to break ground on its new Fire Station Number Five.

The event will take place next Tuesday morning at nine at the site on Mount Clinton Pike.

Harrisonburg Fire Chief Matt Tobia explains that when the fire station opens, it will cut down on the response time in the Park View area.

“We know that in a critical life-threatening medical emergency or in a structure fire, time means absolutely everything,” Tobia said. “So, locating this fire station close to some of the most critical infrastructure in the city is going to make a tremendously positive impact on the quality of lives of the people living in and working in the Parkview section.”

Construction is scheduled to be completed sometime next summer.

The public is invited to attend the ground-breaking ceremony.
