SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A Shenandoah County man is in custody on charges of child pornography.

Roy Thomas Fravel, 66, of Basye was arrested on five counts of child pornography on Saturday, when deputies with the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant in the 700 block of Orkney Grade in Mount Jackson.

Sheriff Tim Carter reported in a news release that his office began an investigation last August regarding the sexual abuse of children in the Basye area. They received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an online account, and Fravel was identified as a suspect.

Fravel is currently being held without bond and has a hearing set for September 3 in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
