Arnold Lafayette Osborne, 97, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday July 20, 2024 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mr. Osborne was born on January 15, 1927 in Shawver Mill, VA and was a son of the late Floyd Osborne Jr, and Nelvia Warreta (Leffel) Osborne Neal. Arnold served in the United States Navy as a SeaBee during World War II. Mr. Osborne retired from Kraft Foods, where he worked for more than 30 years as a salesman. He served as a boy scout troop leader, and was also a founding member of the Ashby Central Ruritan Club. Mr. Osborne enjoyed traveling and camping. He was also a skilled wood worker and crafted several pieces of furniture. Arnold’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On August 19, 1950, he married the former Shirley Ann Dooley, who preceded him in death on February 21, 1998.
Mr. Osborne is survived by his children, Thomas D. Osborne and wife Valerie of Virginia Beach, Margaret O. Roy and husband Jerry of Port Republic; a sister, Barbara Fouche and husband Bill of Ijamsville, MD; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Osborne was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 26, 2024 at 11 AM at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening July 25, 2024 from 6 until 8 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
