Jodi Jean Beasley Riddle, 64, of Rockingham, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Retirement Community on Friday, July 5, 2024.

She was born on Friday, August 14, 1959 in Charleston, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” Earle Beasley, father, and late Mary Louise Ervin Beasley, mother; both of whom were from Salisbury, North Carolina. Soon after, Jodi and family would move to Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended Sanderson High School and Broughton Magnet High School where she was a cheerleader and elite swimmer, and she later received her G.E.D. through Wake Tech. Throughout her youth education, she worked at Mallinckrodt and was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and the Raleigh Racquet Club.

After opportunities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Richmond, Virginia, she would meet the ultimate love of her life, Warren Nelson Riddle, of Harrisonburg, Virginia. The two would marry at their Harrisonburg townhouse on Saturday, May 14, 1994. He preceded her in peaceful passing on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at age 86.

Whilst in Harrisonburg, Jodi volunteered for Mountain View Elementary School and received an outstanding award in 2005 for her thoughtful services. In 2008, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Organizational Development from Eastern Mennonite University. She was employed with Rockingham County Public Schools; first as a Teacher’s Assistant with Pleasant Valley Elementary School and later maintaining Special Education records at Central Office. Alongside her veteran husband, the two organized POW-MIA Recognition Day at James Madison University’s Memorial Hall from 2004 to 2018 with Jodi continuing in his honor until 2021. Some of Jodi’s many hobbies included bowling, dancing, fishing, golfing, gardening, sewing, and singing. She enjoyed nature, listening to rock and roll, watching motorsports and football, rooting for North Carolina State University’s sporting teams, riding shotgun with Warren on his Harley-Davidson, and her family’s yearly trip to the Outer Banks.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jodi was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Rob” Earle Beasley, Jr. She is survived by her adoring family: Wesley Riddle, son, of Rockingham, VA; Cindy Toomey, sister, of Ninety Six, SC, her husband, Kevin, and children, Zach and Aaron; and Donna Beasley, sister-in-law and widow of brother Rob, of Cary, NC, and children, Amber and Courtney. Jodi cared greatly for and was loved by numerous family members on both her and her husband’s side, as well as the many kindhearted friends who played an integral part of her life.

The Riddle family gives thanks to Sentara Hospice Services and numerous Skilled Nursing Care team members from Sunnyside Retirement Community for their promptness, work ethic, tender attention, and selfless support throughout her journey.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Margaret Michael will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in Harrisonburg’s Kyger Funeral Home chapel. Inurnment will directly follow at the neighboring Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
