Willie Virginia Moyers, 96, of Linville, died June 30, 2024 at her home.

She was born October 11, 1927 in Rockingham County and was a daughter to the late David Daniel and Bertha Blanche Phillips Carr.

She worked on the family farm and was a member of Greenmount Church of the Brethren.  Some of Willie’s loves were gardening, history, photography and Avon.  Family was important to her; she enjoyed family taffy making days, loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren and having her family together was always important.  She enjoyed helping others and God’s creatures.  Some of her earliest memories were growing up in the Genoa area and swimming at Blue Hole.

On August 30, 1948 she married Harold David Moyers, Sr., who preceded her in death on November 25, 2022.

Surviving are a son; Kenneth Alvin Moyers and wife Brenda, of Singers Glen, two sisters; Janet Lindamood, Carolyn Lincoln, one brother; Dennis Carr, six grandchildren; Darin Moyers, Karina Showalter and husband James, Eugene Moyers and wife Sarah, Travis Moyers, Trenton Moyers and wife Amber, Tracy Moyers, three great grandchildren; Dixie, Timber, Nehemiah and daughter-in-law; Beverly Moyers.

She was preceded in death by a son; Harold “H.D.” Moyers, Jr. and six siblings; Ogretta Lloyd, Elwood Carr, Warren Carr, Ray Carr, Joyce Carr and Margaret Jean Carr.

Pastor Jon Prater will conduct a funeral service 10 AM Wednesday at Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren in Linville.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.  Friends may begin visiting the funeral home anytime after 12 PM Tuesday (today).
