DAYTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – In case folks in the Dayton area see a lot of smoke today, do not be alarmed.
The Rockingham County Fire and Rescue Department will be conducting a training session and it includes burning down a house. Assistant Fire Marshall and Division Chief Joe Mullens explained how that training will work on Early Mornings Monday.
“We don’t get the opportunity much to get the structures that actually meant more realistic for our people than a burn building that we’re we can only do certain amount of stuff in and so this is a great opportunity for us. But at the same time, you know we don’t want the public to fear that that something could happen and affect them.”
The house to be burned is located on Route 42 north of Dayton next to Woodman of the World. The fire will start at 8:30 this morning.
