HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Community members will soon have a chance to see how their input will shape a new project from the Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Department.
Designs for the Spraygrounds at Ralph Sampson Park will be unveiled to the public at a meeting next Thursday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Lucy Simms Center.
City Communications Director Mike Parks says it has been great hearing directly from kids about what they would like to see included in this project.
“We’ve had a number of meetings in the community at Simms,” Parks said. “We’ve met with after school programs and it’s really been incredible for us to see the excitement from the kids be their ideas about themes and spray features and how they want to use the spray grounds with their friends.”
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin this fall and will be completed by next summer. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.
