WAYNESBORO, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Waynesboro Police have made an arrest following an early morning breaking and entering.

Officials reported in a news release that 37-year-old Tony Branch of Florida was apprehended on felony charges of breaking and entering as well as unlawful wounding.

Officers responded shortly after 1:30 this morning to a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of North Commerce Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered an elderly woman with visible signs of being assaulted.

The suspect, who was unknown to the victim, allegedly broke into the home and forcibly removed her, causing injuries. Officers searched the home and located Branch hiding inside and was arrested without incident.

He is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
