HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance has been given a statewide award last week for its help in bringing a popular art installation to life – and bringing visitors into the city.

The group announced yesterday that it was presented with the Impactful Placemaking Merit Award from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development during a June 4th meeting.

The award recognizes the Downtown Ducklings project, which was created by artist David Turner through a 10-thousand-dollar grant from H-D-R to the Explore More Discovery Museum.

It consists of a bronze mother duck and eight of her hatchlings spread across downtown Harrisonburg.

Folks are encouraged to try and find them all.
