Ruth Virginia Meadows, 95, of Elkton, Virginia, passed away May 31, 2024, at Timberview Crossing Assisted Living in Timberville. Mrs. Meadows was born September 19, 1928, in Luray, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Otis and Virginia Seal Dearing.

On July 3, 1946, she married Bernard Lewis Meadows, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2018.

Mrs. Meadows attended Fox Mountain School and graduated from Elkton High School. Ruth was the oldest of 11 children. She was employed many years in the cafeteria at Elkton Elementary School and was a faithful member of the Elkton Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are four sons, B. Wayne Meadows and wife, Holly of Elkton, D. Kevin Meadows and wife, Laura of Elkton, Timothy P. Meadows of Port Republic, and Darryl C. Meadows and wife, Brenda of Inwood, West Virginia; a sister, Vivian Hitt; three brothers, Randy Dearing and wife, Norma Jean, Paul Dearing and wife, Susan, and Millard “Lee” Dearing; five grandchildren, Shannon Meadows, Majesta Pettinato, Christopher Meadows, Bridget Shull and Danielle McCain; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sherline Lam and five brothers, Lewis, Frank, Lonnie, Jerry and Ronald Dearing.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bob Banks officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
