HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A British-based “special gifts” maker is setting up shop in the Friendly City, bringing more than a dozen jobs along with it.
Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Tuesday that Boxer Gifts LLC, an English company that designs, builds, and distributes unique gifts and toys, is opening a new $1.5 million operation in Harrisonburg.
Peirce Macgill, the city’s Assistant Director of Economic Development, said that the company’s decision came down to three things: location, location, location.
“They were looking to open their first US facility, so distribution to the US market was very important,” MacGill said. Their US customer base has grown exponentially, and we fit that bill perfectly. You know we’re not too far from the port and obviously we’re right on Interstate 81. So, it just provided a great opportunity.”
The company’s arrival is expected to create 15 jobs.
According to Macgill, the facility will be located on Sawtooth Oak Circle.
