HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The defending champions of the Valley Baseball League are in desperate need of host families this summer so incoming players have somewhere to stay.

Harrisonburg Turks President Gerald Harman says host families are a major need for every Valley League team.

“You know, we’re struggling to get host families this year and I’m left about 14 beds short with a week to go,” Harman said.

The Valley League’s season starts next Friday with six games scheduled, including the Turks hosting the Waynesboro Generals at JMU’s Veterans Memorial Park.

Harrisonburg won its first Valley League title in 11 seasons last year. It was Harman’s first with the Turks.
