ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Three-fourths of all crimes that have been committed recently in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County were either drug-related or involved repeat offenders.
That is according to Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson’s weekly comprehensive crime report.
Hutcheson explained that during a three-week stretch between April 14 and May 4, 39 percent of the area arrests were drug and alcohol-related while 36 percent were probation violations.
He added that eight percent of the arrests were larceny-related and the rest of the offenses were for assaults, hit-and-run and arson, among others.
