Menno B. Horst, 84, of Dayton, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at U.K. Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

Born in Ontario, Canada on December 5, 1939, his father was the late John R. Horst and his mother was the late Lydian Bauman Horst.

Menno is survived by his wife, Lorene Horst of Dayton, Va.; his three sons, Reuben Horst and wife Maria of Flemingsburg, Ky., Willard Horst and wife Darlene of Flemingsburg, Ky., and Edward Horst and wife Reba of Grottoes, Va.; and his 12 grandchildren.  He is also survived by two of his siblings, Nancy Horst and husband John, and Paul Horst and wife Sarah.

In addition to his father John and his mother Lydian, Menno was preceded in death by an infant brother, Sidney Horst and two sisters, Hannah Horst and Leah Horst.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Pleasant View Church.

Menno will be laid to rest in Pleasant View Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. then 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 176 Whisman Road, Flemingsburg Ky. 41041.

Visitation will also be 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, then Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., and 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 3077 Ottobine Road in Dayton, Va. 22821.

The family wishes to express a special thanks and appreciation for all the prayers and many acts of kindness during Menno’s sickness and death.
