SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash last Wednesday, May 8, in Shenandoah County involving a bicyclist.

The bicyclist, Rex A. Catt, 53, of Edinburg, was travelling east just before 1:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2024 Kia Seltos travelling south at the intersection of Old Valley Pike and Maple Lane. The Kia was unable to avoid a collision and immediately stopped at the scene, according to a release from Virginia State Police.

Catt died while in transport to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Kia, a 74-year-old female from New Market, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt.
