Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into this evening,
especially near and east of Interstate 81. Some of these may
become severe, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts.
The combination of heat and humidity today may lead to heat index
nearing 105 degrees, especially east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Area forecast discussion from the the National Weather Service
Low pressure will move across the Great Lakes region early this
morning. A cold front will then push through this afternoon and
evening. A strong area of high pressure settles over the area
Monday and Tuesday before drifting offshore the second half of
the week. A warm front nears the region by mid-week yielding a
warming trend.
