HARRISONBURG VA:  (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Sunday evening through early Tuesday morning. Clouds will begin to increase Sunday with the approach of low pressure system pulling north out of the Mississippi Valley.  This system will bring a great deal of moisture with it and with the cold temperatures in place, for us in the Shenandoah Valley, this should be the first big snow we’ve seen in some time.  Areas to our south and east will more likely see a mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow.  While we should see mainly snow,  overriding warm air at higher elevations may cause the snow to mix with some sleet and freezing rain overnight Sunday.  Snow will continue into Monday with total accumulations of 3-6 inches for most of the central valley and and 6-12 inches in the northern valley and to our west.
