Area forecast discussion from the National Weather Service

Tropical Storm Helene has made landfall along the northeastern Gulf
Coast, and is expected to quickly move into the
southern Appalachians and Tennessee River Valley today into the
weekend. Widespread rain is possible today, especially across
parts of Central Virginia. Chances for rain will linger into
early next week as an upper low remains overhead.
