FRANKLIN WV: (ROCKTOWN NOW) -Residents of Central and Eastern Allegany County in Maryland, as well as Eastern Grant, Eastern Mineral, and Eastern Pendleton Counties in West Virginia, are currently under a high wind warning. The warning, which remains in effect until noon EST today, predicts west winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts reaching up to 70 mph.
The strong winds are expected to cause significant damage, including downed trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel conditions will be hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
Authorities advise residents to stay in the lower levels of their homes during the windstorm and avoid windows. Caution is urged for those who must travel, as falling debris and tree limbs pose additional risks.
