STERLING VA: (NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE) -Southern Augusta County remains under a Flash Flood Warning until 8 PM EDT this evening as heavy thunderstorms continue to impact the region. Emergency management officials reported that between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, leading to ongoing flooding concerns.

Although no additional rainfall is expected, flash flooding is already occurring or imminent, affecting local creeks, streams, roadways, and low-lying areas. Officials urge residents to remain cautious and avoid flooded roads, emphasizing the importance of safety measures.

Areas at risk include: Stuarts Draft, Sherando, Wintergreen, Fishersville, Lyndhurst, Nellysford, Craigsville, Greenville, Augusta Springs, Middlebrook, Deerfield, Summerdean, Trimbles Mill, Mint Spring, Spottswood, Swoope, Christian, and Buffalo Gap.
