HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Accumulating snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain, making for treacherous driving and walking conditions tonight and for a good part of Monday. Snow will overspread the area from south to north, arriving in the central valley between 4 and 8 p.m. Warm air at higher levels in the atmosphere are expected to change what’s falling in some areas to a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. this evening through early Tuesday morning. If we see the precipitation mix, it will cut down on the total snowfall numbers, if it doesn’t, we could see 5 to 8 inches of snow, with even higher amounts in the mountains.
What falls will stick around
With high temperatures Monday only in the mid to upper 20’s and lows this week dropping into the single digits, what falls will stay with us for the week ahead. Daytime highs this week will be lucky to reach freezing and overnight lows will drop to the single digits.
