HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A strong cold front will bring much-needed rain to the area, along with gusty winds and below-normal temperatures to end the workweek. An upper-level low-pressure system will follow from Thursday through Saturday, resulting in a prolonged period of cold temperatures, upslope mountain snow, and gusty winds. High pressure will return Sunday into Monday before another front approaches by mid-next week.

While a mix of rain and snow is expected in the valley, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued to our west from this evening through Saturday morning. In higher elevations, such as Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, and Southeast Randolph, including the cities of Harman and Snowshoe, heavy snow is expected with total accumulations between 10 and 20 inches and wind gusts up to 45 mph.
