MOUNT CRAWFORD VA: (Rocktown Now) – The Houston Bowman Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day, featured recently on WSVA Radio’s Early Mornings, will take place March 28 at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds and offers third‑ through eighth‑grade students hands‑on training in areas such as machinery safety, large‑animal awareness, ATV safety, food safety, and new topics like home‑alone safety and disability awareness. Coordinator Olivia Brown of Sentara RMH Community Health highlighted the event’s educational focus, while longtime committee member and farm‑safety advocate Art Mitchell—who lost both legs in a 1978 farm accident—emphasized the importance of staying alert, understanding equipment, and teaching kids to respect farm hazards. Families must pre-register by March 20 by calling 540‑564‑3080, and preregistered children will receive a goodie bag and lunch during the 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. program.
