HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – HARRISONBURG, VA — The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a global ministry dedicated to influencing coaches and athletes for Christ, is strengthening its presence in the Shenandoah Valley. During a recent WSVA segment, Frank Wilt spoke with Chris Riddle, FCA Area Director for EMU, Shenandoah, and Page County; Chris Dillard, a new area representative at James Madison University; and Melanie Riddle, who will serve Eastern Mennonite University.

Founded 70 years ago by Don McLennan, FCA began with the vision that athletes could promote faith as passionately as they endorse products. Today, FCA employs over 3,000 staff worldwide, focusing on transforming lives through sports. Locally, FCA serves three college campuses—JMU, EMU, and Bridgewater College—and six of 11 area high schools, with plans to expand into all schools and middle schools.

FCA’s ministry includes traditional sports and extends to outdoor activities, motorsports, and action sports. It also offers programs for individuals with special needs. Chris Dillard shared his personal testimony, describing how FCA provided him with community and spiritual growth during his time as JMU basketball manager. Now on staff, he hopes to mentor athletes and young adults seeking purpose beyond athletics.

To support its mission, FCA launched the Steps of Faith year-end campaign, encouraging donors to give their shoe size—or $10—monthly. With a goal of 2,000 donors, this initiative aims to sustain and grow FCA’s outreach. Interested supporters can learn more at FCAValleyNorth.org or follow Valley North FCA on Facebook and Instagram.
