STAUNTON, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A Staunton man is in custody as a result of an investigation into the assault of a child this week.

Shane Campbell, 24, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 30, following an investigation by Staunton Police into the assault that allegedly occurred on Thursday. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and felony abuse and neglect of a child.

Campbell is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
