Officials with the Rockingham County Fire and Rescue Department continue to monitor conditions across the area, and specifically the dams in the Briery Branch and Hone Quarry areas.

Plans for the panel were announced at the Harrisonburg City School Board meeting Tuesday night. It will be an opportunity to answer questions for HCPS parents regarding school safety following social media threats against the school division last month.

Wilfredo Emmanuel Vazquez-Velazquez was identified as the suspect and subsequently taken into custody.

The university, which is in the town of Boone, has been under a State of Emergency since last Thursday after floodwaters ravaged the region, leaving many residents still isolated and experiencing power outages, challenges with communication and transportation.

According to a news release, officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunfire in the 1700 block of W. Beverley St around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Assistant County Administrator Casey Armstong told host Jim Britt on WSVA’s Early Mornings Tuesday that the amendment to be voted on will help mitigate the impact of the county’s critical infrastructure.

According to online records, Rodney Dwayne Phillips will appear before a Staunton Circuit Court grand jury on Oct. 21.

Officials are continuously monitoring conditions across the area, and specifically in the Briery Branch and Hone Quarry areas. According to a social media post from the department, there is no concern about the integrity of either dam and no need for emergency evacuations.

The free event is open to adults 18 and older who want to receive a free flu shot from the convenience of their vehicles. The clinics will be held rain or shine, and vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
