The City of Staunton has announced that Jason Ball has been named the new Fire Chief effective immediately.
The incident prompted nearby Luray High School to operate under a lock-in, which was lifted later that morning.
The incident pertained to a school assignment that was submitted by a suspected 14-year-old Fort Valley boy.
According to a social media post from Page County Public Schools, the school is in lock-in out of an abundance of caution as the incident is contained to that area. There is no direct threat to LHS students or staff.

Tanner Allen Hartman had a hearing this morning in Rockingham County Circuit Court where a judge set a sentencing date of Jan. 13, according to online records.
According to a news release from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were attempting to serve multiple arrest warrants on Christopher R. Hutchinson, 35, at an apartment complex in Fishersville on Thursday. Hutchinson jumped out a window and fled, crossing Jefferson Highway towards the Wilson complex.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a wanted suspect who fled on foot in the Fishersville area near the Wilson School complex and Jefferson Hwy.
Augusta County Sheriff’s Investigator Ron Reid was presented with an award from the International Homicide Investigators Association for his hard work and dedication in the successful investigation into the homicide of three-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell.
Both individuals were taken to the Juvenile Intake in Woodstock.
