Harrisonburg City Public Schools has been presented with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for their outstanding support and commitment to music education for the tenth time.

Staunton City Schools are inviting families to get ready for the upcoming school year at its first annual Back-to-School Bash on July 21 and 22. The event will offer a wide range of free services and resources for families and students of all ages.

A Fairfax family will experience a double celebration next week as both mother and daughter graduate from James Madison University.  

The deadline to apply for the Harrisonburg Fire Department’s Sixth Annual Camp Lit has been extended to next Thursday, May 15th.

Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine have introduced the Shenandoah Mountain Act and Virginia Wilderness Act to protect wilderness in Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, and Bath counties.

Community members are encouraged to participate, Saturday morning, by placing non-perishable food donations (no glass), at their mailboxes for pickup by their letter carriers.

First grade teacher, Karen Grady, at Ware Elementary School in Staunton has been named Teacher of the Year for Region 5.

The event was a virtual forum with partners and community members that discussed the need for food assistance and the possible solutions.

Rockingham County Public Schools, Rocktown History, and the Moton Museum will host an event to honor civil rights pioneers who fought for equal access to public education in Virginia.

The City of Harrisonburg’s Public Works Department is currently accepting comments on the Chesapeake Bay TMDL Action Plan. The deadline for comments is May 14.
