Occupant arrested in connection with Fulks Run house fire

According to a press release, members of the Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s Office and Sheriff’s Office arrested the 43-year-old woman who was living at the residence on Wednesday. She was an occupant of the residence, located in the 8300 block of Hopkins Gap Road, but not the owner.

Youngkin to announce Virginia’s exit from California emissions mandate

The General Assembly passed a law three years ago linking Virginia to that directive, which requires 35 percent of new vehicles sold in the commonwealth to be fully electric starting in 2026. Rockingham County Delegate Tony Wilt has since introduced three bills to terminate that agreement.

Student enrollment increasing in Harrisonburg City Public Schools

The findings show that pre-kindergarten enrollment jumped by 73 students to a total of 524 new kids. Meanwhile, kindergarten enrollment climbed to 611 students – a 64-child increase over last school year.
