RICHMOND, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Governor Glenn Youngkin’s office revealed today that he intends to pull Virginia out of a mandate tying the commonwealth to California’s vehicle emissions law.

The General Assembly passed a law three years ago linking Virginia to that directive, which requires 35 percent of new vehicles sold in the commonwealth to be fully electric starting in 2026.

Rockingham County Delegate Tony Wilt has since introduced three bills to terminate that agreement. All died in the legislature.

Youngkin was set to make the announcement at 10 this morning – it has now been postponed until 2:30.
