TAMPA, Fla. – Northern Arizona survived a seven-point deficit (80-73) in overtime to upend James Madison in women’s basketball action at the St. Pete Showcase on Thursday afternoon inside the Walter Athletic Complex.

JMU (5-2) was out-rebounded (51-46) for the second time this season, with NAU (6-1) scoring 17 second-chance points off 17 offensive boards.

Ro Scott led the way with 24 points off the bench, shooting 11-of-15 (.733) from the field. Peyton McDaniel secured her third double-double of the season with 22 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Ashanti Barnes finished with 12 points and nine boards, and tied her career high with four steals. Kseniia Kozlova added 11 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

For the Lumberjacks, Sophie Glancey produced a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, scoring the go-ahead basket with three seconds remaining in overtime. Neverson recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Leia Beattie and Nyah Moran finished with 14 points, while Taylor Feldman dished out a game-high six assists.

First Quarter – JMU 17, NAU 11
The Dukes held NAU to 1-of-13 (.077) and 5-of-22 (.227) from the field.
McDaniel paced the offense with five points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Second Quarter – NAU 39, JMU 32
The Lumberjacks produced an 18-1 run to take a 29-22 lead at the 4:00 mark.
Northern Arizona scored 16 points in the paint and 13 second-chance points, including a putback at the buzzer for a seven-point lead at the break.

Third Quarter – NAU 57, JMU 54
McDaniel and Scott provided a spark with a combined 14 points in the period.
Neverson added nine points, however, the Dukes outscored the Lumberjacks 22-18 in the frame.

Fourth Quarter – JMU 73, NAU 73
McDaniel connected with Barnes under the basket to put JMU ahead 58-57, its first lead since halfway through the second.
Down 73-70, Olivia Moran knocked down a wing three to the game up. Moments later, Scott scored on a driving layup with two seconds left, but the guard was called for an offensive foul to send the teams to overtime.

Overtime – NAU 85, JMU 83
JMU opened on a 7-0 spurt, kickstarted by a McDaniel triple.
Undeterred, NAU responded with an 8-0 run to make it 81-80 with 2:30 remaining.
Trailing 85-83, Kozlova earned a trip to the line, however, the redshirt senior missed the first attempt followed by a lane violation as the Lumberjacks held on for the victory.
