AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Wildlife Center of Virginia) — A recent, popular patient at the Wildlife Center of Virginia has reached an exciting new milestone in her rehabilitation! On Wednesday, December 17, Bobcat #25-3628 was safely sedated, examined, and moved into the Center’s Large Mammal Isolation (LMI) enclosure, which will provide more space as she continues to grow.

During the exam, the veterinary and rehabilitation team performed bloodwork, a full physical, and a dental check. The Bobcat’s bloodwork came back within normal limits, and she now weighs 3.33 kg (just over seven pounds). The team noted that the Bobcat has begun losing her deciduous (baby) teeth, and her adult canine teeth are starting to come in.

After the procedure, the Bobcat was closely monitored as she recovered from sedation in LMI’s chute. Once she was fully awake, the team opened the chute and allowed her access to the enclosure. She quickly began exploring her surroundings, investigating the climbing structures, browse, den, and enrichment.

Now settled into LMI, the Bobcat has more space to explore and refine her climbing and hunting skills. She is also now visible on the Center’s Critter Cams! Tune in to watch her in her new environment as she continues preparing for life back in the wild! The Bobcat’s full story is available on the Wildlife Center of Virginia’s website, complete with regular updates and photos.
