WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Waynesboro Police Department (WPD) arrested 45-year-old Janis L. Vicars on 9 charges including two felony counts of forging, uttering, etc., other writings.
According to a release WPD were contacted in July 2025 regarding an individual, later identified as Vicars, who deposited nine checks into her account between December 2024 and June 2025 using various ATMs.
Tt was found that two of the checks that were deposited into the ATM did not belong to Vicars. The other seven checks deposited belonged to Vicars. The total amount of the checks was in excess of $1,000, which Vicars allegedly obtained during these transactions.
Vicars is charged with the following alleged offenses:
- 18.2-172 Forging, uttering, etc., other writings-Two Felony counts
- 18.2-181 Issuing bad checks, etc., larceny – Seven counts
On Monday, October 6, 2025, Vicars was arrested on the outstanding warrants and is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
