ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The winter storm continues to severely impact roadways and travel for drivers across Virginia.

Virginia State Police spokesperson Matt Demlein shared numbers for crashes that occurred between Saturday and Tuesday as a result of heavy snowfall.

Virginia State Police has responded to 506 crashes, 38 of which had injuries.

Breakdown by Division:

Division 2 (Northwest Va./Winchester/Harrisonburg) – 43 crashes, 4 with injuries

Division 3 (Central/Western Va./Appomattox) – 51 crashes, 7 with injuries

Demlein adds that drivers should stay off the roads Tuesday and into Wednesday as VDOT is in the process of making its way through the secondary and subdivision roads.  If you are on the roads, give VDOT trucks and emergency crews room to do their jobs.  Also understand that storm impacts could delay emergency response to stranded motorists.
