WEYERS CAVE, VA (Rocktown Now) – Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Katie Frazier visited Weyers Cave on Saturday evening, joining producers and community leaders at the Augusta County Agricultural Appreciation Gala. In her remarks, Frazier acknowledged that many Virginia farmers are navigating one of the most challenging periods in recent years, citing tight margins, volatile markets, and rising operating costs.
After her speech, Frazier spent considerable time speaking individually with farmers, listening to concerns and answering questions. She said one of the most common themes she hears across the state is uncertainty about the future and how producers can remain profitable amid shifting economic pressures, including rising fuel and fertilizer costs, tariffs, and high labor costs.
Frazier emphasized that the Spanberger administration is actively exploring ways to strengthen market conditions, expand opportunities, and support long‑term farm viability. Despite the challenges, she praised Virginia farmers for their resilience and commitment to producing safe, healthy food for communities across the Commonwealth.
