BLACKSBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia Tech has fired Head Football Brent Pry.
In a press release Sunday, Virginia Tech President Tim Sands announced the firing after the Hokies lost Saturday to Old Dominion 45 to 26. In announcing the move Sands said ” Unfortunately, the results on the field were not acceptable and a change in leadership is necessary. Philip Montgomery will serve as interim head coach. We will continue to fully support our team and student-athletes for the remaining games as we strive together to significantly improve the trajectory of our football program this season.”
Pry replaced Justin Fuentes as the Hokies Head Football Coach in November of 2021. His record in three plus seasons in Blacksburg was 16 & 24 and Tech opened the 2025 season with losses to South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion.
The search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
